Raised among the sawdust and machinery, David inherited his family's passion for the mill. In 2020, he joined his father full-time, eager to contribute his skills to the family business. With the knowledge passed down from his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, David embraces his role as a generational sawmiller with pride and enthusiasm, ensuring that the legacy of Wallace Lumber Company endures for years to come.
In 1989, Dunk's son Mark Wallace approached him with a vision: to clear land on the farm for a new mill. With Dunk's guidance and expertise, Wallace Lumber Company was born in 1990, nestled in the heart of Mississippi. Mark is an honorable, hardworking man just like his father, Dunk. Mark, a true craftsman, built the mill with his own hands, leaving his mark on every inch of the operation. It all begins with an idea.
The story of Wallace Lumber Company is a tale woven with the sweat and determination of hardworking men spanning generations. It all began in 1948 when Dunk Wallace, just 22 years old and fueled by ambition, walked into a bank alongside his father to secure a $500 loan. With that, Dunk purchased his first mill and load of lumber, laying the foundation for what would become a family legacy. For over three decades, Dunk poured his heart and soul into the mill, owning several along the way, and cherishing every moment of the labor. In 1979, he hung up his hat and retired to his farm, content to spend his days tending cattle and watching his grandchildren flourish.
